NETWORKS
NETCOMTECH provides affordable network engineering service solutions for any size networking needs from SOHO (Small Office/Home office) locations to large corporations (enterprise grade networking).

Local Area Networks
NETCOMTECH associates are experienced with most major networking products including those from Cisco, 3Com, Netgear, Enterasys, Linksys, HP, Intel and many others so you can be confident that we can handle most situations..
In today's ever changing IT market, we understand that all companies, regardless of size need to keep their IT costs down. We help you to do just that, by using a different methodology then our competitors.
Our methodology is simple; we analyse your environment and suggest what equipment you need to achieve your goals.
Wide Area Networks
NETCOMTECH can design and setup a new Wide Area Network (WAN) for your organisation or we can merge several of your smaller pre-existing LANs into one large Wide Area Network (WAN) that stretches across town, the country, or the world. Complementing our LAN / WAN design package, we offer complete Managed Data Services. This includes onsite management of all network services and customer equipment. Utilising Frame Relay, ATM and other transports, you can send voice, data, audio and facsimiles between your WAN locations. Best of all, NETCOMTECH handles the entire scope of the project from the initial setup to regular maintenance to emergency support. We are your single point of contact for all of your communication needs.
VPN
VPN technology allows companies to reduce remote access costs by removing the remote connection from the phone company and "outsourcing" it to the Internet. The remote user, then, connects to corporate network resources through a local Internet Service Provider (ISP) rather than over expensive phone lines. This application eliminates long-distance phone charges and allows corporate network managers to hand off administration of remote access connections to the Internet Service Provider.
A VPN tunnel is an on-demand virtual point-to-point connection made through a public network, in this case the Internet. Once connected, a remote user can utilise the tunnel to exchange information and access servers and services on the corporate network. By using the Internet for connection, you eliminate long-distance charges. A local dial-up to the ISP replaces the WAN circuit.
Authentication - For Secure Connection
Authentication is the most important security element of a multiprotocol IP tunnel. Authentication ensures that tunnels will only be established between verified tunnel partners. Different tunnelling protocols approach the issue of authentication in different ways. Tunnel authentication is based on digital signature technology, using the MD5 standard. Digital signatures allow for continuous authentication on a packet-by-packet basis.
Other popular tunnelling protocols rely on PPP authentication routines (CHAP and PAP) to verify tunnel requests. Authentication occurs before the connection is established. Once the connection has been established, however, there is no further authentication of packets. Make sure you know what kind of authentication is provided with any VPN product you consider.
Encryption - For Data Privacy
Encryption is a method of "scrambling" data before transmitting it onto the wide area link, in this case the Internet. At the remote end, the data is decoded using a private "key." Most VPN products support a range of encryption methods to provide users with security/performance options. As encryption technology evolves and VPN usage grows, look for more advanced encryption services to appear.

STRATEGY
Organisations tending to evolve with the customer requirements and technology consider IT as a business enabler. This is a significant change from the earlier view of seeing an IT department and investment as support and cost centre. The change in belief has also been demanding on the IT function to deliver to be seriously seen as an enabler. The key to such a change is a robust process that aligns IT strategy with the business strategy. The processes should both be internally functional as well as the external value chain comprised of suppliers and customers.
Processes provide benefits in terms of maintaining cost, schedules and efforts within tolerable limits. It also establishes a logical and time proven road map for improvement. NETCOMTECH offers consulting in standards and in compliance, IT governance and service, support and delivery management. These frameworks improve processes reducing the ad-hoc elements and by bringing certainty.
Businesses seek stability, growth, expanding market share and entry into new product/service lines. However investment decisions also have to be taken in an uncertain environment. Feasibility of investment needs inputs from existing operations, existing or emerging or new market, competition movements' etc. NETCOMTECH provides business advisory services for case creation, market feasibility study and for evaluation of investment decision.
NETCOMTECH consultants listen carefully to their clients so that they understand not only the technical issues but also their business context. Their advice is detailed and precise, but always made clear.
IT strategy
IT infrastructure, Application and Processes are one of the key elements of successful strategy and its implementation. SECURITY
The IT security services life cycle provides IT security decision makers and managers with a six-phase process by which they can select, implement, and manage IT security services. The diagram details the various life-cycle phases and the issues and decisions within each phase. It proceeds linearly from initiation to implementation to closeout, but the assessment, solution, and operations phases must continually occur for an IT security service to succeed.
An effective IT security program should encompass multiple layers of protection. A company should evaluate the value and criticality of its information systems and determine the security controls that are appropriate to the level of risk. A security program, whether at the organisational or individual system level, should include an appropriate mixture of security controls: management, operational, and technical. Reliance on technical resources alone will be insufficient without complementary
management or operational controls.
Firewalls
A firewall is a device that has a network protection application installed to safeguard the network from intentional or unintentional intrusion. A firewall sits at the gateway between the two networks, usually a private network and a public network such as the Internet. The term "firewall" is derived from the process in which, by segmenting a network into different physical subnetworks, the firewalls limit damage that could spread from one subnet to another, acting in the same manner as fire
doors or firewalls in automobiles.
Firewall Services
NETCOMTECH can perform any or all of the following firewall functions:
- Design a firewall solution that incorporates single and/or multiple firewalls
- Install and integrate a firewall(s) into new and existing networks
- Monitor firewall services to ensure availability and integration with other technical controls, such as incident response or intrusion detection systems (IDS)
- Manage the companies firewalls, including periodically upgrading them.
Intrusion Detection
Intrusion is any set of actions that attempts to compromise the integrity, confidentiality, or availability of a resource. Intrusion detection is a passive security activity that sits on the network or on selected hosts.
Devices that are part of the IDS are used to detect intrusion and provide information to a central management console. This information is reviewed by security staff to determine if a valid security breach has taken place.
An IDS performs a variety of functions:
- Monitor user and system activity
- Audit system configuration and vulnerabilities
- Assess integrity of critical system and data files
- Recognise activity patterns reflecting known attacks
- Perform statistical analyses for abnormal activity patterns
- Provide operating system audit trail management, with recognition of user activity reflecting policy violations
- Provide customise reports.
This ongoing monitoring and assessment is a necessary part of an overall security architecture. IDS's generally improve the integrity of other parts of the information security infrastructure by identifying specific indications of a possible attack and causing a re-examination of defenses. They can often trace user activity from the point of entry into the network to point of exit. IDS's can recognise specific types of attacks and alert appropriate staff (if configured to do so).
Intrusion Detection Services
To be effective, intrusion detection requires a robust knowledge base of attack signatures against which the IDS can tally its findings. Threats and vulnerabilities are not static in nature and are continuously changing and evolving. The attack signatures database should be updated frequently for the IDS to be able to detect the most recent threats. IDS's require a high level of expertise to operate and manage , and NETCOMTECH has this expertise in-house.
Public Key Infrastructure
Modern security architectures protect and distribute information that is needed in a widely distributed environment, where the users, resources, and stakeholders may all be in different places at different times. PKI is an approach (consisting of products, services, facilities, policies, procedures, agreements, and people) that addresses these security needs and makes use of the scalable and distributed characteristics of PKI. PKI allows organisation to conduct business electronically with the confidence that:
- The person or process identified as sending the transaction is actually the originator (nonrepudiation)
- The person or process receiving the transaction is the intended recipient (identification and authentication)
- Data integrity has not been compromised (integrity).
CABLING
Cabling systems represent the lifelines in our era - they serve to transmit a wide range of information such as data, voice, images and much more. They are an essential aspect of building design and have a significant influence on the functional value of a building. This is why NETCOMTECH must be long-lived, universally applicable, living up to meet present and future demand while at the same time offer investment protection for several years.
