Servers
Netcomtech recommends servers that will give their customers high availability 24/7. These servers have the best fitted configured motherboards that will give the best performance, with ample ventilation to keep the system cool. It also come with hot-pluggable hard drives for easy removing and replacing without having downtime or you can stick with the traditional internal hard drives. The servers can also be fitted with a RAID controller to setup the hard drives for redundancy. The choice of operating system for different applications and requirements will work at top performance. The servers come with two network cards build-in onboard. Disaster recovery is also recommended by Netcomtech and suggests a backup drive loaded with Backup Exec software for scheduled backups. Netcomtech partner with well known server products like HP, IBM, Acer and Mecer.
Computers
Netcomtech advice their customers on purchasing their workstations or machines intended for different applications. The "Personal Computer" range from number crunchers to the most advanced gaming machines. Netcomtech also advise on workstations that must create design work and complex CAD drawings. Corporate machines are build standard with network cards onboard for client-to-server connections. Workstations that Netcomtech recommend are HP, Mecer and Acer. All these machines come with a one to two year warranty.
Printers
Netcomtech advise its customers on a couple of issues when buying a printer. The first is functionality, meaning that the client should consider colour or mono, dot matrix, DeskJet or LaserJet. Does it need to print through a network and be managed remotely or from the local computer? The second is capacity - how fast the printer can put through finished pages. How much memory does it need to hold spooled pages, text, graphics and downloaded fonts? Thirdly is performance - there is two aspects of performance namely 1. Resolution - printer resolution is measured in dots per inch and is not always the same vertically and horizontally. Modulating the intensity of the dots lets the printer produce output that looks as if it is a higher resolution. This technology is built into many laser printers. 2. Accuracy - a printer positions a page to a known place and marks on it. The accuracy and reproducibility of that positioning, and of the positioning of the marks relative to one another, affects the relative accuracy of the printed result. Another issue that need to be taken in consideration is the expense of cartridges. Netcomtech does an analysis of what the customer expect the printer to print and how many pages will be printed in a month which upon a recommendation is done to the customer. Some of the printers that Netcomtech sell are HP, OKI, Epson, Canon and TallyGenicom line printers Networking

Microsoft Microsoft Operating Systems are seen daily on basically every computer. Netcomtech sells all Microsoft products and provide consultation on these software to benefit our customers. Netcomtech also provide information on software piracy and licence issues. Microsoft's newest Windows operating system, Windows XP, has been designed to give both business and home users the freedom to experience the best of the digital world. The release of Windows XP is unique in that it is the first time that Microsoft has produced a complete line of Windows client operating systems based on the same software architecture. Windows XP is based upon the new Windows engine, which is an evolution of the same architecture that powers the Windows 2000 family of operating systems. With the new Windows engine as its foundation, Windows XP is the new standard for efficient and dependable computing. It offers exceptional ease of use without sacrificing the qualities that matter to computer users: security, performance and reliability. Windows XP will provide a rock-solid base on which to build compelling new computing experiences. In the home Windows XP will provide great support for home networking, digital photography, music and entertainment. In the corporate space Windows XP will enable new scenarios around communications, mobility, and support. In order to meet the needs of both home and business users, Microsoft has created two versions of Windows XP: Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional. Windows XP Home Edition has been specifically designed for home users. Whereas Windows XP Professional, which contains all of the features of Windows XP Home Edition plus additional advanced capabilities, is geared toward businesses of all sizes and users in the home who demand the most from their computing experiences. The core areas which differentiate Windows XP Professional from Windows XP Home Edition are:
Business Networking
Management
Security
Enterprise Deployment Tools and Technologies
International Support
Mobile Computing
Licensing and Support Programs DataProtection Manager 2006 A new server product, Data Protection Manager(DPM) 2006 has been launched as part of the Windows Server System family. DPM 2006 is a new server software application that provides rapid and reliable disk-based recovery, efficient and near contnuous protection and operational simplicity. With DPM, recovering information is as simple as browsing a share and copying directly from the production server. DPM works with Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows Storage Server 2003 to deliver best in class data protection services. Linux Linux has many potential benefits, but whether Linux would be good for you or your organisation depends on the needs and requirements. The business of software is changing from providing licenses that confer a 'right to use' to delivering technology and services that enable customers to use technology with greater effectiveness. In the past, too many software packages became 'shelfware' for the customer, because vendors focused on selling the license. In the Open Source model the focus is on providing high value technology and services to customers. Open Source vendors provide these more effectively because their technology development model is more scalable and their business focus is customer service, not technology licensing. Red Hat software is the distributor of the open-source Linux operating system. Although in the past few years there has been considerable hype concerning Linux, we do think that Linux represents a compelling technology for use in server and desktop applications. Recently we have seen a significant up-tick in the enterprise use of Linux as a server operating system, a result of server consolidation and Linux's lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Linux, the open-source operating system, is now running on powerful government computer systems, and technology giants are increasingly providing support. Linux is also being looked at for large high-end processing applications.
Benefits There are potentially significant benefits to the customers of Open Source. One of the benefits that open-source customers derive from the licensing terms of the software is the ability to access and modify source code. This can be beneficial to those who need changes made to the software. Another benefit to customers is a lower TCO partly due to reduced licensing costs, because open-source software is generally provided at a low cost. However, another factor in open-source software's cost is the ability to run the software on commodity-level hardware. This helps to reduce costs by allowing customers to work with numerous hardware vendors to obtain beneficial pricing. It also allows customers to recycle unused hardware or access unused capacity on existing hardware. Accounting
