A label needs a system
A useful identifier should remain unique and interpretable after staff changes. Define the naming convention before printing hundreds of labels.
INSTALLER CENTRE
Create a naming system that survives the installation crew, the handover and the next technician.
A useful identifier should remain unique and interpretable after staff changes. Define the naming convention before printing hundreds of labels.
FL1-R01-PP01-024 could represent Floor 1, Rack 01, Patch Panel 01, Port 024. This is an example convention, not a standards-mandated syntax.
The identifier on the cable, patch-panel record and outlet schedule must refer to the same permanent link. Avoid local nicknames that never reach the documentation.
Labels should identify infrastructure. Do not put passwords, WiFi keys or other credentials on general infrastructure labels.
