Why the distinction matters
A network can contain several of these technologies at the same time. A business may use UniFi for its office LAN and WiFi, an airMAX or Wave link to connect a remote building, and UFiber where fibre access is required. Treating all Ubiquiti equipment as interchangeable can lead to the wrong hardware choice.

- Need managed office switching and WiFi? Start with UniFi.
- Need a wireless link between two buildings? Look at point-to-point equipment.
- Need several remote locations connected to one wireless base station? Investigate point-to-multipoint.
